Founded in 1994 in Hyderabad, Mahita began as a grassroots initiative dedicated to empowering women, children, and marginalized communities. What started with community organizing in urban slums and rural villages has grown into a leading social development organization working across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Over the past three decades, Mahita has advanced education, child protection, gender equality, livelihoods, health, and community development through people-centered and rights-based approaches. By partnering with communities, institutions, and local leaders, we have helped create opportunities that promote dignity, inclusion, and sustainable change.

Today, Mahita continues to strengthen communities by fostering leadership, protecting rights, and enabling individuals to build safer, healthier, and more empowered futures.
